Web 2.0 - we need 1.0 back: The Oil Crises

I hate web comments. I never comment - on pretty much anything. If I want to write about something, I write about it here. I think most sensible people have given up on the comments which come after a news story, and this is why:

After just reading an interesting article on the "A Whale" a Taiwanese converted tanker which is the world's largest skimming ship and is set to be used (well - maybe) in the gulf (the article was mostly a look at the ship and spill) you get this incoherent and idiotic response:

WAKE UP CONSERVATIVES!

We need to start calling the libtards what they really are... traitors. They voted for Obama and Obama wants to destroy America. They will be dealt with when the Tea Party Revolution takes our country back.

err... this is norm here... yeah.. I kind of agree with some of the Tea Party ideals.. but this guy is nuts

Every patriotic American should write to BP and apologize for what our so called President has put that great company through.

umm... no. First, I work in the oil industry and am pro-oil, pro drilling, etc. And, I am very pro business. But companies should be accountable for damages. BP really blew it here, so did Obama, but that does not excuse BP from operating like a shady Russian oil baron and then trying to put massive spin on the whole thing. 2 FAILS ≠ 1 WIN

When the Tea Party Revolution takes back our country Oil Companies and Banks will be able to get back to doing business without government restriction... responsible only to their share holders... just the way God intended.

Err.. by "God" I think he means Adam Smith. Or maybe Ayn Rand. Regardless, any company also has to be responsible for the costs in incurs. Like... oh... I dont know... letting a few gajillion gallons of oil lose on a murderous rampage in the Gulf.

We need oil way more than we need shrimp, tuna, dolphins, white egrets, and brown pelicans... and if those cry baby Gulf Coast Beach lovers want to go swimming they can build a pool.

I hate you so much right now.

Oh... and you old fart freeloaders can kiss you social security and medicare handouts goodbye! Change is coming!

Again - I think change needs to come. But this guy? I just want to smack him. Preferably with something out of the Royal Armoury. Maybe a mace, with lots of pointy bits on it.

Rand Paul/Glenn Beck 2012

right.

And then a little way down, you get this pile of steaming bovine feces:

GULF GUSHER TAPERS OFF AS WE HIT 'PEAK OIL'!

    Plan 'A'

Plan A is now being presented by BP. They are sending in a giant converted Oil tanker that 'scoops up' oil from the water to the tune of 21 million gallons a day. Of course, that 21 million gallons is a mix of oil and water, so it's about 20 million gallons water and 1 gallon oil. But the silly boat is BIG. And there's a reason for that- this 'spill' is BIG. As a matter of fact, except for the Persian Gulf war, the BP Gulf Gusher is now the BIGGEST EVER! And it's getting pretty obvious to the dummyfiles that no one can do anything but WATCH IT GUSH TILL ITS EMPTIED ALL IT'S BLACK OILY DEATH INTO OUR PRECIOUS SEA. And still we keep drilling and drilling.
umm... no. First, you just restated a lot of the article, but with an emphasis on shitty writing. Second, what the hell are "dummyfiles"? I think that is more insulting to you than whoever you are trying to target with that. And "till its emptied"? Fail.
  • So for public relations, BP has sent in this big POS (and you know what that means) and they have named it the 'A Whale'. But the A Whale is no match for the A Bomb BP has set of in the G of M. In fact, the A Whale was built by some A Hole to tackle this A Pocalypse in the G of M that has been K O'd by BP and the US is SOL.
Woohoo you know how to use letters!!! So proud of you. Next class, we'll teach how to write. Many years later, if you had stayed in school, you would have learned how to construct an argument. If you read the article - you would see the ship is not owned by BP, was named by its Taiwanese owners, and as for the rest of it.. in the words of Borat... you are retard.
  • 140 Million Gallons is a gross underestimate. This thing has been gushing 4 Million Gallons a day since April 20th. There is no end in sight and yet our reckless, spineless 'leaders' are still drilling!
No - that is not an underestimate, that is the upper range of the estimate, from independent experts... I am willing to trust it. As for the drilling - yes, a disaster with a known cause does not shut down a global industry which powers the world. What a terrible thing to do.
Toyota was taken to court in 2000 by Chevron, when Chevron sued Toyota to stop them from using the NiMH (Nickle Metal Hydride) battery in their RAV4 EV electric car. This effectively 'killed' the electric car and led to the oil gusher.
Yes, and also no. Chevron did kill the NiMH for plug in cars. Which was a pretty dirty, underhanded, and despicable move. What this has to do with the disaster in the gulf, I have no damn idea. If you think a few electric cars would have stopped people from drilling for oil, you must be a little swiss-cheesy between the ears. But... yeah... we knew that.
  • Toyota is now partnering with Tesla to build electric cars for sale to the masses, and that is why they keep getting slammed in the press. GM has had far more cars and trucks recalled (in the millions) in the past few months than Toyota. That is all because the oil companies are fighting for their lives, especially with that endless gusher out in the Gulf-

    Operation Sunburst- Plug= it in!
WTF are you talking about? Seriously - WTF are you talking about? Toyota has been a media darling for years, especially with the Prius. GM recalls were for regular issues - Toyota recalls were for covering up a defect which caused many deaths... you dumb dumb. What does this have to do with oil companies? Nothing. Nothing at all.

And what is Operation Sunburst? I think it must be from the care bears..
