Toyota Drivers Suck: Statistical Proof
Remember that whole Toyota recall scandal and the big issue around brake pedals, floormats, and the brakes on the Prius not working?
As was reported here on the BoN as well as other enlightened and auto-enthusiast sites, the likely cause of all these accidents and reports is that Toyota drivers suck at driving. Alternately called "The Revenge of Beige" or "Boring Bites Back" - the basic logic is that the issue Toyota faced is that it does not build cars, it builds boring appliances which are purchased, owned, and operated by people whose only interest in cars is that they get from point A to point B. This does not inherently make you a bad driver, but the truth is that if you don't give a damn about your car, you probably don't give a damn about driving.
And now, I have stats to prove me right. And aid me in my quest to have all Prius drivers limited to driving only in the slow lane, possibly with blinking caution lights.
Here is the article:

In other words - they all just royally sucked at driving, and then tried to blame it one someone else.
I actually know someone just like this, though her favorite car was a Honda CRV, not a Toyota, its still pretty much the same thing (though Honda, unlike Toyota, does also make nice cars). She was dumb, a bad an inattentive driver, and made random decisions on the road about when to pull out, when to speed up, and when to change lanes. She considered herself a "safe" and "defensive" driver. Which really just means a "shitty" and "clueless" driver.
In the time that I knew her, she got involved in two major accidents. The first, the person in front hit their brakes, so she slammed hers on. The person behind her did not recognize it in time, and so hit her. She panicked, and instead of holding on the brakes, slammed on the accelerator and nailed the car in front of her. She then told the insurance company that the only reason she hit the car in front was the person hitting her. Just like all these idiot Toyota drivers who have no clue what they were doing. The same girl then totaled her CRV, as in a busy 4-lane shopping area, she drove past a car that was stopped in the right lane and slammed into a guy pulling out. Not technically her fault, but again, a better driver would never have been in that accident.
Basically, to me this shows two things:
1) Toyota got screwed by building boring cars for boring people who refuse to accept blame for their actions (people who call themselves "defensive" drivers).
2) Always pay attention to the cars around you. I have basically developed a full list by model and year that I unconsciously pay attention to as I drive. It makes driving safer, as well as giving you something of a heads-up to the tards which litter this country's roads.

Crash Data Suggest Driver Error in Toyota Accidents
By MIKE RAMSEY And KATE LINEBAUGH
The U.S. Department of Transportation has analyzed dozens of data recorders from Toyota Motor Corp. vehicles involved in accidents blamed on sudden acceleration and found that at the time of the crashes, throttles were wide open and the brakes were not engaged, people familiar with the findings said.
The results suggest that some drivers who said their Toyota and Lexus vehicles surged out of control were mistakenly flooring the accelerator when they intended to jam on the brakes. In other words - they all just royally sucked at driving, and then tried to blame it one someone else.
