I truly hate the UAW
After more or less killing the American auto makers, the UAW (United Auto Workers) are now after the 'import' brands.
You see, their policies and abject greedy laziness lead both GM and Chrysler to bankruptcy. But that is not good enough. They are pissed because UAW membership has been declining for decades. This is not surprising, as car sales by US companies have been declining for decades - GM's best year was 1972.
Instead - the import companies, specifically the Japanese and Koreans, have built lots of plants over here in the US - mostly nowhere near Detroit - and, shockingly, don't allow the UAW in. This means the poor workers have to put up with things like being evaluated on their performance (ahhhh the horror!!) and not getting insulted, degraded, and talked to by the union boss for working harder than you "should" - common practice in UAW plants. Oh - and you are allowed to be fired for being a terrible worker or committing sexual harassment, again something the UAW tries to prevent.
Their plan now? Picket dealers in CA and NY because of the closing of the NUMMI plant, a joint venture between Toyota and GM, and the only Toyota plant with UAW workers. The irony here? Because Toyota is not in the middle of government ownership due to bankruptcy caused by the UAW, they were actually the ones to pay a huge severance package to NUMMI workers, GM paid nothing. And what does Toyota get for paying most workers at NUMMI twice their annual salary as severance? Picketing from the UAW to try and get into their factories. They are like goddamn cockroaches.
Unions, and the UAW in particular are scum, the bottom of the evolutionary ladder: they are driven only by laziness and greed, while they try and bully, cheat, and steal. Oh yeah, and the current administration loves them. Shocking.
