Merc vs. McLaren: Update
When I said that McLaren and Mercedes had a rough breakup, I was not kidding.
Further evidence comes this morning as Mercedes released pictures of their successor to the SLR, the SLS AMG.
In other words, McLaren went public last night, immediately Mercedes released the first pictures of their car, and this morning Mercedes released the full specs of its next supercar. Trying to steal the thunder and upstage your erstwhile dance partner much?
All that said, I think there is always room for another supercar, and I dont think that the two are direct competitors.
The SLS is more of a cruiser, with front-engined layout than a legitimate supercar. Think of it as a competitor to the Continental, 911, and Aston Martins of the world than the bulls and prancing horses McLaren seeks to play with.
