Skysails and Green Ship Design

Ships are the most efficent way to move cargo. But their activities have contributed greatly to poor coastal air quality and global emissions. To the point of causing thousands of deaths annually worldwide. EnSys did research into this, on developing new standards for marine fuels. Changes are coming, driven by regulation and cost efficiency. The most interesting development to me is a return to wind power, in the form of a kite. Computer controlled, highly efficient, and needing only minimal retrofitting, the skysail or similar design would once again bring wind power to the forefront of naval research and development.
