Kodak to leave the Camera Market

This is a big one, though in some ways, also not that important.

In the midst of their bankruptcy proceedings, Kodak has said that it will no longer manufacture or sell digital cameras.

This is the company which brought us the Brownie, leaving the camera market: it would be akin to Ford stopping car sales.

At the same time, Kodak is really an also-ran brand at this point, just one more generic point-and-shoot manufacturer branding Chinese made cameras. Sad though, considering this is a company which helped develop the digital camera, but (in one of the dumbest management decisions of all time) didn't pursue it because it would cannibalize film sales. Turns out, film sales were not just cannibalized by Kodak, but were then main dish at a thanksgiving day feast for a few dozen Asian companies.

And so, it is the end of the road for the Kodak camera. Another one bites the dust.
