Man given $1.2 Million Speeding Fine

Nope - not a mistake.

Switzerland gives you speeding fines based on how fast you were going over the limit as well as, crucially, what your income is.

In a record setting fine, a man was caught driving his AMG Mercedes at 186mph. He was not caught for a while because older speed cameras could only capture up to 125mph, but eventually he ran into a new model and well.. the result is the largest speeding fine in history.

While I am sure he enjoys his $150,000 AMG, one would think he would have been better off buying the Bugatti Veryron, and driving it a little slower.

Anyway, giving a perfect explanation of why he was consistently traveling at 186mph? (likely the top speed or limited speed of his car):

"I think the speedo on the car, which is new, is faulty."

Yeahhuh. Because it is so friggin hard to tell the difference between 75mph and 180+mph. I get the two confused all the time. Actually, the fastest I have taken a car is about 145mph... and yeah, you can tell.

In other words, the guy is an idiot, but obviously makes a lot of money. And as a side note, if you make a lot of money, and you want to own and drive fast cars, don't do it in Switzerland. Dumbass.
