New Template

I finally figured out how to play with the template settings. For now, it just means the main text is wider (mostly so that I can put in graphs and pics easier, without them getting chopped), in the future, further developments may (or may not) occur.

Callout today to the product over on Woot.com Have been using this little guy for a while now, and I am a big fan. It is pretty durable so far, has a good rechargeable battery, and a good screen so you can see what you are playing *cough* *cough* *apple sucks* *cough* *cough*... and it has all the normal good features such as an equalizer and ability to set songs in folders. Also, it just shows up as a usb drive on your computer, so you can easily just organize your songs, rather than using some crappy program to "sync" your music... so friggin annoying - why do we put up with that crap as consumers? Anyway, if you have been in the market for a good rechargeable mp3 player which clips on and is great for running or other sports, do yourself a favor and get one of these. Woot is the originator of One Day, One Deal. Every midnight (central) we launch an event: one sale that lives until it sells out, or the next midnight. ...

A BBC take on the Copenhagen fail

By -
The BBC gives 8 reasons why Copenhagen failed. Here is #2 "2. THE US POLITICAL SYSTEM Just about every other country involved in the UN talks has a single chain of command; when the president or prime minister speaks, he or she is able to make commitments for the entire government. Not so the US. The president is not able to pledge anything that Congress will not support, and his inability to step up the US offer in Copenhagen was probably the single biggest impediment to other parties improving theirs. But it makes the US a nation apart in these processes, often unable to state what its position is or to move that position - a nightmare for other countries' negotiators." All I can say to that is... THANK GOD. What the article is implicitly saying is that the US is a nightmare to deal with because it is slightly...

Doomsday Bunkers for What? "Preppers" Are Idiots

Recently I wrote about the 10 best doomsday survival shelters in the world . These make sense - they are for continuity of government, they are so mankind will survive, they are all about long-term planning or strategic defense. But, I just came across a brand new show on Discovery - "Doomsday Bunkers" - and it's stupid. Interesting, but stupid. It turns out that there is a whole community of people out there who believe Y2K is still coming think Fallout 3, the Book of Eli, or Mad Max is just around the corner. And so they are "prepping" - getting ready for the zombie apocalypse. The craziest of them - or perhaps just the most obsessive or those with the most money.... spend $50,000-$1,000,000 building underground bunkers to protect themselves from... something. Cozy... I hope you like Progresso   And that's where the idiocy comes in: they don't know what they are protecting themselves from. The vast majority of them are built to offer...
