Exnay on the Aabsay (No More SAAB for the US)

Sadly, GM is looking to kill off Saab in the US.

The plan is to work to make Saab independent, mostly by moving production back to Sweden and out of Opel plants in Germany, and then to try and sell it. No one is really interested in buying so far it seems, but with the major shakeup in the auto industry, who knows who will end up with it.

It is too bad, because Saab has built some amazing cars, and except for the fact that GM let them whither and die because of no R&D spending for 15 years (the Saab 9-5 of today is only one model newer than the Saab 9000 of 1988).

Of course, with Hummer and Saturn also on the rocks, it will be a cery different GM that we will be seeing soon. And its unfortunate too, that Saturn started making good cars (Opels) for the first time in years, I like the H3, and Saab's new AWD/Traction control system is meant to be amazing. Alas.
