Gay Books at Amazon
Turns out that the likely cause of all the gay/lesbian books at Amazon being listed as "inappropriate" was the work of one well known hacker, who first added the tag himself and then routed web-users from his and friends websites to the pages which automatically recorded votes for the books to be "inappropriate." Since it does not take many votes, he could get all the books banned.
No big deal here - except for the fact that Amazon should have admitted it instead of claiming it was a "glitch" of some kind.
Also - it does prove one of the weaknesses to the whole user generated content/user generated moderating thing which has made the web so much better overall.
