New Acura ILX Looks Like Hyundai

2013 Acura ILX

Above is one of the most boring new cars in all of cardom. Acura took a lot of flack (and lost sales) because of its "shield" nose which has now (thankfully) gone the way of the Subaru propeller nose and the Edsel... yeah.

I has a beak.. tweet tweet

I'd still take the one on the bottom...

But this is the first new Acura since the nose job debacle... and it looks... boring.

Really really boring. I mean, sort of like a Mazda 6 blended together with a Subaru Impreza and a Buick Regal.

It is in fact the new Acura ILX - which is an entry level luxury model based off of the (also now really boring) Civic - not grand beginnings to be sure. It means it competes with the new Buick Verano (also a compact car based "luxury" car).
Pretty damn similar...

The two cars actually look pretty similar. Sadly though - this is where the Acura really falls flat: it starts at $30,000. That's a lot of money for a bland looking midsize somethingmobile. For comparison, the Buick starts at $23,000 - which really is entry level luxury (and a price I a much more likely to forgive bland looks). Not to mention the fact that a fully loaded Hyundai Sonata is $29,000 and the Hyundai Genesis (a whole lot more car) starts at $32,000. Not a lot of value here folks.
